Emisshield is thin film, ceramic nanoparticle material with high emissivity and heat re-radiation capabilities. The core technology of Emisshield was originally developed by NASA to be used as the heat shield for the X-33 and X-34 Space Planes. After a license for the technology was secured from NASA, intense efforts by the Virginia Tech’s Center for Adhesion and Sealant Sciences, combined with extensive research and development, resulted in 20+ Emisshield products ready for sale in today’s market.
Emisshield products optimize heat applications by changing basic system physics and enabling positive improvements in any combustion or energy transfer. This technology can be used on existing or new materials utilized in all combustion processes including metals, refractory, ceramics and high technology fabrics. The optimization provided by Emisshield can provide significant improvement in most energy consuming, producing, or related heat systems. John Olver, President/CEO
John Olver has been President/ CEO of Emisshield, Inc since 1999. He previously founded an engineering firm specializing in major environmental projects in the US and the Caribbean and served in a variety of capacities, including Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. The company was later sold. Dr. Olver also founded Olver Laboratories Incorporated as a separate entity, providing complete environmental analyses, biological monitoring and process treatability studies. This company was also sold. Dr. Olver founded Tellurian Incorporated in 1990 and served as its President until 2001 when the company was sold. Dr. Olver is a recipient of a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College, and a Master of Science and Doctorate in engineering from Virginia Tech. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in several states. Dr. Olver has been responsible for three patents and over seven patent applications in material science and combustion optimization.
Lindsey Deal, COO
Lindsey Deal, Chief Operating Officer, joined Emisshield, Inc in April 2008. He had previously worked as an executive for Celanese Corporation in various functions including manufacturing, business development, sales & marketing and global business management. Lindsey had held several international assignments including Sao Paulo Brazil and Shanghai China. Prior to Celanese, he worked for Gulf Oil Chemical Company. Mr. Deal received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
John Emery, Advisor
John Emery is CEO of Stone Circle Capital, an opportunistic venture capital firm. Stone Circle Capital’s primary strategy is to provide its portfolio companies with added management focus and expertise to execute operating strategies that accelerate growth and create attractive exit options. John previously served as CEO of Great Wolf Resorts (NASD:WOLF), leading its rapid growth and successful exit through an IPO and as President of Interstate Hotels & Resorts (NYSE:IHR). He is a CPA and began his career with Deloitte. John graduated from Virginia Tech where he serves on the Pamplin School of Business Advisory Board and is a frequent guest lecturer at several universities.
James Kelly, Advisor
Jim Kelly was formerly president and CEO of Flight Explorer, a software and IT solutions provider to the aviation industry. He turned the company from a loss to profitability, doubled revenue and implemented an exit strategy. Previously, he was the founder, president and CEO of SynXis, the leading hotel reservation management software provider, and its telecom spin-off Innovectra. Edison Venture Fund acquired Innovectra and Sabre acquired SynXis. Kelly is a former International Vice President of BDM, at the time a Carlyle Company, and served as International Programs Vice President at SAIC. In the Reagan Administration he was Deputy Assistant Secretary, Economic Policy, Africa the Near East and South Asia under Secretary Malcolm Baldrige. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech where he serves on the Pamplin School of Business Advisory Board, and the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Donald Phillips, Advisor
Don Phillips was formerly a Partner with the international accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He retired in June 2009 after 39 years of providing accounting, auditing and business advisory services to a wide variety of clients and industries. As a Partner in the Firm for over 25 years, he managed large portfolios of client engagements, grew Firm revenues, led successful business development efforts, developed and managed special industry practices and participated in quality control reviews. He has significant experience in advising Boards and Audit/Finance Committees on financial, operational, internal controls and general business matters. Mr. Phillips specialized in serving clients in the healthcare, higher education and non-profit industries. He has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 35 years and is licensed in 8 jurisdictions. He is a member in good standing of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as in several State societies. Mr. Phillips is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, DC and is the President and a member of the Board of Governors of the University Club of Washington, DC. He is a graduate of Bloomsburg (PA) University.
